Process Management refers to the software tools used to assess and route business content from process initiation through completion based on established business practices.
The software tools that enable Process Management include a series of configurable tasks which graphically represent specific functions within a business process, such as Start, Worklist, Application, Decision and Go to tasks. Tasks are connected by arrows into routes to create maps that document the business process which can be verified by business users.
During Discovery, PBT works with prospects to identify activities that can be eliminated or automated by applying content and process management. High level maps reflect redesigned processes, isolating areas in which cost savings can be achieved such as increased processing volume by automating work distribution, rules-based work prioritization and approval routing. Business Intelligence (BI) refers to the software tools used to collect and analyze information about work processes. Output from BI tools is often presented in Management Dashboards. Dashboards are real time or near real time graphical representations of management approved performance measures and process monitors.
BI tools come in many flavors from basic tracking data collected during processing to Labor, Historical and Event cubes, each with respective measures and dimensions. The key to using these tools effectively is to understand what information is available, how to access it and how to present it to business users in a meaningful format.
